In reflexology we believe that certain points in the foot correspond to different parts of the body and by gently massaging them we are helping to ‘unblock’ as well as calm the nervous system.
It is considered to be a non-invasive and relaxing modality which can be helpful if you are feeling particularly fragile due to cancer or treatment side-effects.
“There is some evidence that reflexology can help you:
- relax and cope with stress and anxiety
- relieve pain
- lift your mood and give a feeling of well being”
During the treatment you can be semi reclined and supported by plenty of pillows and bolsters if this is comfortable. This gentle treatment usually lasts about 45 minutes but the length of time will be guided by how you are feeling.
*Please note that It is best to rest and wait a week or so after a chemotherapy session as you may be feeling too unwell to receive a treatment.
If you use a wheel chair or a walking aid, you may find it easier to receive a treatment in your own home. Please contact me to discuss this further.
